I’m sure there’s some point in my life that I’ve looked at a child’s artwork on a peers desk and thought, “how strangely odd that they would put that particular piece of art on their desk.” Now, with children of my own, I completely understand.

If you’ve waded through the last post you’re likely done listening to me ramble, so this time I am going to share some photos. The pictures are taken from about a year ago now and will hopefully show you just how wonderful my children are and how much they’ve grown.
When I decided to create this blog, it began as a labor of love. It was a way for me to put down into words the love and happiness that my children had brought into my life, and a way for me to “give” them their history so that later on they could know how their actions had impacted my life and opened my eyes to a happiness and joy that could be neither bought nor stolen. If, at some point, I happened to make them laugh or cringe in embarassment later in life, all the better. Realizing this, I always think that there is something more that I can give, something else that I can share, or some way that I can be better for my children. And of course, when I think these thoughts, I am reminded of Diane Looman’s poem:
I think almost everyone that knows me will agree that I can’t sing. I can’t even clap in tune. Most people prefer I don’t even hum. Fact of the matter is that I can’t really dance either. Fortunately, Sofi and Natalie are both really into singing and dancing and this Thanksgiving Natalie was really rocking out with her own rendition of Alabama (no, you haven’t heard this one before!)

The guys who fear becoming fathers don’t understand that fathering is not something perfect men do, but something that perfects the man. The end product of child raising is not the child but the parent. ~Frank Pittman, Man Enough
We didn’t get as many photos at thanksgiving dinner as I would have liked, but we had a wonderful time all the same. Dinner was great, the company was wonderful and the children had a wonderful time. Mama did an absolutely wonderful time of entertaining the children and there were even games like pin the hat on the turkey and potato races. And, while I know the children enjoyed the games, they really enjoyed the prizes, which made everything a wonderful success.
Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. ~Elizabeth Stone
It’s not often that dessert is something other than chocolate, and it’s not often that dessert is a participatory event, either. To change that, the other night we decided to try and make some fancy rice-crispy squares (er, circle?) that came with a decorative topping. The girls had a wild time putting the red and orange on top and although there were supposed to be candies on top, too, they were eaten outright before making it to the top. Loads of fun.

Ask your child what he wants for dinner only if he’s buying. ~Fran Lebowitz
Just a quick note of well wishes for everyone. It’s Thanksgiving day and we’re getting ready to head out for good food and cheer with some of the family, but before we go we wanted to take a minute to wish each of you and your families a wonderful holiday. We will be thinking of you and remain thankful that you are a part of our lives.

P.S. Yes, I will have photos later, after the festivities, and I will be sure to post them. Be patient!
Podcasting and video-casting seem to be all the rage these days, so I thought I would begin playing around with it a little bit for the girl’s blog. Of course, what I quickly realized is that I am neither a good videographer or content editor, which basically means that the video I’m playing with to test this out is about as boring as they come. But, it is my children, they are having fun, and it was already recorded and ready to go so I thought I’d try it out. If this works out well I may begin doing this from time to time as we come up with more n and fun videos.
Note, this video is very large and depending on the speed of your connection, it may take several minutes to download or begin playing in the embedded viewer.

The city of Campbell sponsers a weekly farmer’s market every Sunday and we try to make it there for a variety of reasons. We support our local growing community, while getting good quality, relatively inexpensive organic foods, and at the same time the girls get to mow their way through the stands enjoying “samples” of various froots and vegetables. It’s always loads of fun and they seem to like the hustle bustle of the whole thing. You can see them above dancing to the band that plays there, so it could also be considered a small amount of exercise, too.
On Saturday mornings we typically take Babi home to Watsonville, and it’s always fun to try and do something right after that. Fortunately, soccer is usually over by 9:30 and on this Saturday we left a beautiful San Jose sunny day to head over Highway 17 to Watsonville. The weather for our entire trip was marvelous – the sun was out and even in the beach communities the weather was nearing 70. With that in mind we thought we could head up the coast and enjoy some time on the beach.
Unfortunately, the cloud cover descended just north of Santa Cruz and we were wrapped in fog and heavy cloud cover all the way through Half Moon Bay, where we stopped to enjoy a stroll through the city. The beach was windy and cold, but the girls had fun all the same. It’s nice to see them get some time out in the sand, and even though the cold and wind you could hear them laughing.
