The girls seemed to have a great Friday, which included a trip to Cosentinos, the local market, followed by a chocolate milk shake. Yummy. Cosentino’s has a wonderful down-home attitude and some of their stores have these smaller, children’s shopping carts. The girls can’t go in there without running to see if they’re the kids that will get them today. Some days this have to share. This day they each got their own, and as you can see they filled them to the brim before putting their foods up onto the counter.
When I got home we decided to take a quick trip out for sushi dinner, which was very good, and then we went to the Jungle, which is a local kids play area. It’s pretty much like Chuck-E-Cheese’s, but they have a giant playland in the middle. Think McDonald’s playground on steroids (with apologies to Barry Bonds, who happens to be in the media way too much this week.) Mama didn’t think they would do well, and quite the contrary they took off like they’d known this place all their lives. All I could think was hamster habitrail.
They also have all the quarter-sucking machines that kids love and for the money that we invested in tokens they converted to tickets and each got a flute for their efforts. Pretty cool if you ask me, although I think they would have preferred some of the candy that was there, too.
All the same, it was a great time for all and the girls were talking about it well through the weekend. We won’t be going back too often, because it is somewhat for older children, but it’s nice to know with the winter coming that we have some alternatives to staying around the house.
