Some of the best trips that we’ve had as a family are to places that don’t cost a lot of money and don’t add too much other than a place for the children to have fun. The Coyote Point Recreation Area, just outside of Burlingame, is one of those places. I’m not sure how they started, but what it really ends up being is a combination golf course, picnic ground, beach (the San Francisco bay), playground, marina, and museum. I’m sure there’s more there, too, but that’s what I saw during our day there and our travels.
Coyote Point was fun for many reasons - the video shows just one - but getting ouside, getting into the museum, and getting to be together made this an absolutely wonderful day. No matter how much we get out to enjoy it, I am always amazed and impressed by the girls’ boundless energy and passion for fun. They seem to know what they like and even when they’re whining to get heir way it’s easy to understand why they want what they do.
In addition to the park they also have a pretty cool museum. They let teachers and children 3 and under in for free so the cost would have been only $6 for us. Fortunately, they also offer a 50% discount for members of the Oakland Zoo. All in all a very inexpensive day. And, the best thing for most families is that you can make a day of the place. For us it was a few hours at a wonderful, clean park and then some time at the museum. If the weather had been coorperating we could have even walked along the beach, but it was way too cold, windy and rainy for that.
