Yes, honestly, it does feel like it’s been forever since we started working on our tree-house, but now that we’re getting close I realize that two things have happened. First, the closer we get the more motivated to finish I get. Second, and more importantly, the girls are getting closer to the age where they can appreciate having their own play-room and space to have their things. We’ve cleaned out the inside and they have actually spent some time in the house getting their table and chairs situated. Of course, now that I’ve painted the exterior (using the sprayer generously donated by Troy) we’re going to have to clean the interior from top to bottom before they can get back in. For those that have never used a sprayer (like me) you can’t even begin to imagine how much overspray mess they make.
Now, with all that excitement, I think that the girls getting to spend some time outside helping paint their tree-house was perhaps the most wonderful part of this building experience for them. With the beautiful weather, and a promise they could help, the girls broke out their paintbrushes, put on some grubby paint stained clothing (from when they helped paint the patio furniture) and began to paint. The intent was that they would help with the trim, and when all was said and done they did actually get a little bit of paint on the trim pieces. Of course, on the way there they painted the lawn, the saw horses, their shirts, arms, legs and hair. Oh yeah, don’t forget their foreheads, faces and noses. It was, of course, loads of fun for everyone and I’m really glad that they go to enjoy it. The first picture doesn’t reflect the trim on the tree-house, but that will be coming soon.
