Sometimes I wonder, are my children beautiful because of who they are, or are they beautiful because of how they make me feel? I’m not sure that I will ever know the answer, but when I see my girls out having fun and enjoying their life it makes me thankful, every day, for what I am able to share with them and what they give back to me.
This year for pumpkins we went to some “nearly world famous” pumpkin patch that is somewhere between a carnival and a pumpkin patch. They’ve got everything – corn mazes, train rides, pony rides, pumpkin games, hay rides, and of course pumpkin sales. The only thing against them is that they fee the consumer to death – from $3 parking to a ride package that’s basically about $20/person, and that’s before you even get to the pumpkins! Fortunately, in the area of pumpkins they were pretty reasonable. But,… I will try to remember that it’s not about the money – but rather what it provides for you. For this weekend - a little money went a long way – we had a blast!
We took it all in for sure – we played in the hay, walked through the corn, and even rode on the train. The girls did some dancing, ate some corn, and even found some time in between to look for pumpkins, but that might be getting ahead of myself. The whole time they were laughing, running about and downright enjoying the bustle of hundreds of people all having a great time. Mama even got involved with a little dancing.
The volume of quality pumpkins was extraordinary, although I will say that I prefer the experience of walking among the vines rather than walking about rows finding them already laid out, categorized, priced and ready to go. It really takes some of the fun out of “finding” the perfect pumpkin. Fortunately, on the fun scale, I don’t think that the girls noticed any difference. It was a huge buffet of pumpkins for them and they ran around taking advantage of the color and experience of it all. They, of course, each picked their own and we got one for the family, too.
It was difficult, but I think I’ve saved the best for last, because no good visit to the pumpkin patch/carnaval would be the same without pony rides. I’m not even sure what the fascination is, but Sofi and Natalie light up when they see horses and even a few minutes trotting in a circle gives them plenty to talk about for the rest of the day. Honestly, you’d think they just crossed the open range on horesback the way they describe it. For me, it’s darn fun and exciting and I am really quite glad that they get to “ride” as much as they do. Their happiness, without question, is mine.

Looks like lots of fun had by all! Sofi looks so much like Michael when he was that age in some of those pictures that it takes me aback.
Thanks for sharing.
