It’s difficult to believe that my daughters are old enough to be riding scooters – it seems like just yesterday that they were “scooting” around the house as part of learning to walk. But here we are 2009 – Sofi is 5 and Natalie is 4 – and they’re out riding their scooters; tearing up the neighborhood. Fortunately, they’re having loads of fun, too!
The Razor scooters are actually pretty cool and the pink handles, wheels and board make them girly enough for even our little princesses to ride with pride. In just a few days they’re actually pretty good at it, too, and a lot better than I would have expected. We’ve even made the morning run to Starbucks – about three relatively long blocks away – and they did very, very well. Before too long they will be doing the trips that Sofi is so ready to try out.
As with all great things, there was a small downside and the first day out Sofi had a small wreck where she scraped her elbow on the pavement. It was very, very painful and a day later papa came home with knee and elbow pads so hopefully the cuts and scrapes will be few and far in between. The helmets, of course, are a must wear and they’re very good about getting them on before even pulling out their scooters.
All in all a great addition to the family’s sporting equipment and we are definitely looking forward to a wonderful summer riding these around the neighborhood. It’s even been great exercise for Mama and me, because someone has to go around the block with them. The only downside being that the pace, at this point in time, is pretty slow. Not to mention the stop for every flower, bug, piece of dust in the sidewalk, etc. Yeah, it will get better, and we’re all looking forward to that.
