With the new school year started, many of us have already seen our fair share of fundraisers, but I wanted to take a moment and encourage you to consider supporting Sofi and Braly Elementary in their effort to raise funds for special programs and materials that aren’t in their regular budget.  The school earns a large percentage of every dollar you spend, and, of course, Sofi has a chance to win some really great prizes.

Fortunately, with the power of the internet, you don’t even have to leave your home.  Simply go to www.cherrydale.com to see the exciting collection of gourmet chocolates, beautiful giftware and assorted gift wrap and accessories. If you like, you can buy or renew one of your favorite magazines too.  By clicking the above link all the school’s information should be entered automatically, but just in case the information you will need are as follows:

Student ID#: 61043
School ID#: 157806

This fundraiser will be running from September 25th through October 9 and your support is greatly appreciated!

Just a friendly intermission – more pictures to follow when it’s been modified.  Towards the end of August we got a new car.  The Volvo’s transmission went out and the estimates were several thousands of dollars.  With 130K miles on the odometer we started thinking this might be throwing good money after bad.  When J. Rockcliff offered to help if I’d consider “wrapping” the car with their logo I said yes without hesitation.  So we got a 2009 Scion XB in black and in the next week or two I’ll post more pictures of the car, the interior and what we’ve done since acquisition to brand it for the J. Rockcliff technical services department.

Needless to say – the size and newness have made it very exciting for Sofi and Natalie and we hope that this will be a great addition to the family.

One of the local outdoor malls is Santa Row.  It’s about 10 minutes from home and offers the higher-end and manufacturer stores as opposed to Valley Fair – directly across the street – which offers a more traditional mall shopping experience. One of the benefits of being an outdoor mall is the flowers, and on Sundays they offer a somewhat modest farmer’s market.  The good thing about their market has to be the freshly made popcorn, which we enjoyed immensely.

Our local Home Depot is typically a pretty happening place on Saturday, and this week they even had some stuff going on Sunday when we stopped by.  Miracle Gro had their sponsored car out by the garden section and they were starting it up from time to time.  Not being race fans, we were all amazed at the amount of noise just starting this beast made.  It was deafening, even from a few feet away, and of course the girls didn’t like the noise at all.  All the same it was very fun.  For those that are wondering, it takes a little over a half gallon to start and run these beasts for a minute or so.  Ouch!
